Temple of Doom – Treasure Level 3: Disarming Duel
True Adventurer: 18,000 studs
Character types needed: Sword, Whip
Unlocks: Nothing
LEVEL ENTRANCE: To complete this level, you'll need Indiana Jones and a character with a sword, so either the Thuggee or Pankot Assassin. Since you'll fight a bunch of Assassins in this level, it may help to use the Thuggee so it's easier to tell which character belongs to you. Return to the palace entrance and follow the gold arrow inside. (Check the Treasure Level Intro or Hub Maps for screenshots and the Characters page if you need help unlocking the sword characters.)
Pankot Palace Banquet Room at Night
This level is easier with two players. So if you can find someone to play co-op with you, by all means do. Otherwise, you'll need to switch back and forth between the sword-wielding character and Indy.
As soon as you enter, several Pankot Assassins attack. Attack with your swordsman just until one of the enemies has been disarmed. Don't destroy him completely; you want him alive. Switch to Indy and use his whip to tie up the character whose sword has been removed. (Hold the Attack button to aim, as usual, and then release the button to lasso the enemy.) Move in close and press the Use button to pick up the immobilized enemy. Carry him to the back of the room and press Use again to drop him on one of the 5 red buttons.
Repeat this process twice more, disarming an enemy using your swordsman, tying him up with Indy's whip and then carrying him to one of the buttons. Try to go quickly if you can, since the bound enemies will eventually break free. If this happens, you can lasso the same enemies again or go after new ones instead. Don't worry if you accidentally smash some of the enemies, since they'll continue to respawn indefinitely. If the tied-up enemies shift off the buttons, just press Use to pick them up again and reposition them.
Once you have three enemies tied up and sitting on the buttons, move Indy and your own swordsman onto the remaining buttons. When all 5 buttons are pressed at once, the painting on the back wall opens revealing the Artifact.
If you're going for "True Adventurer" you don't have to take the treasure chest right away. Instead, spend a few minutes running around the room smashing furniture, dishes, etc. As in the palace Story Level, if you jump up to grab the tusks on the elephant statues on each side of the room, more studs pour out. If you're playing co-op, have the swordsman character fight off the enemies while Indy gathers studs. Once you've got everything, jump up to grab the Artifact and end the level.
