Area 1: Submarine Dock
Head to the right and fight a couple of enemy soldiers. Pull the lever to extend a catwalk and cross over onto the submarine. Move to the right side of the sub, build a lever and use it to extend another catwalk. Cross over it to the right side of the room. Fight another pair of soldiers. Then use the bits in the back corner to build a fan. Blow one of your characters onto the ledge above, where you'll find artifact piece (1/10).
FREE PLAY: Toggle to a small character and go through the crawlspace to emerge on a ledge to the left. Pull the lever to extend another catwalk. Cross over it and enter the submarine.
Inside, build another lever and pull it to lower the periscope. Look through the viewer to spot an artifact outside. Go through the round hatch on the back wall to exit the sub. Don't jump down yet, though.
Instead, use the whip pad to the left of the crawlspace to swing to the next ledge. Build a BOTCS access panel there and use it to open the door. Enter and fight the soldier guarding this storeroom. Smash the box and build a crawlspace that leads to the shelf above. Go through another crawlspace to emerge on the high shelf on the left. Jump down to the shelves in the middle of the room to get artifact piece (2/10). Exit where you came in and return to the right side of the room, where you built the fan earlier.
Build a yellow pad. Stand on it and blow into the mic to inflate a rubber raft. Hop in, float across the pool and jump out onto the green box. Use the whip pad to climb to the ledge above. Push the box along the checkerboard tiles and off the edge so Marion can climb up.
FREE PLAY: Climb the green crates, switch to a character with an umbrella and slide from the gray pad down to the truck with artifact piece (3/10) on top. (If you then jump down on the right side of the trucks, you can skip the business of jumping across the floating boxes to reach this area. Just be sure you don't miss the next artifact piece, described in the Free Play note below.)
The parked trucks prevent you from reaching the other side of this area. So go down the ramp and push the box off the ledge into the water. Jump across the floating boxes to reach the area to the right of the trucks.
FREE PLAY: If you entered the sub and used the periscope, as described in the first Free Play section above, artifact piece (4/10) will be sitting on one of the floating boxes.
When you enter the area to the right of the parked trucks, 3 soldiers emerge. Fight them and then break the boxes on the right to find map piece (1/3). Then use both characters to pull the 2 levers and open the exit. (If you're playing solo, the second character should help automatically.)
Area 2: Second Sub Pen
Pull the lever to extend a catwalk and cross over it. Fight 2 more soldiers. A third enemy starts shooting at you from above. So use the whip pad to climb up and deal with him. Pull the lever to extend a rope so Marion can ascend.
FREE PLAY: On the lower level, dig up the sparkly patch on the left to get a whip pad. Use it to climb to the ledge above and enter the next room. Once inside, the second character will appear automatically. Run around to the right and use the moving platforms to reach the level above. Fight 2 enemy soldiers there. Pick up artifact piece (5/10). Then return to the main area and climb back onto the ledge on the right.
Go up the ramp and smash the boxes in the corner to get map piece (2/3). Then pull the second lever to extend a catwalk to another submarine.
Cross over and drop into the sub. Smash the control panel on the right to get artifact piece (6/10). Go through the round hatch in the background to exit.
Climb down on the left side of the sub and break the machine gun to get artifact piece (7/10). (If Indy won't punch the gun, try using his whip.) Then go around to the right side of the sub and pull the lever to extend another catwalk.
Cross over it and use the whip pad to pull down another bridge so you can continue to the right. Use the next whip pad to climb onto the green crates above. Then push the box off the checkerboard ledge so Marion can join Indy.
When you move around to the right side of the parked truck, 3 enemy soldiers attack. Deal with them and then break the boxes to get map piece (3/3). If you found the other two pieces earlier, you'll receive artifact piece (8/10) as well.
Pull the 2 levers to open the exit.
Area 3: Final Area in Submarine Base
Go to the right and push the box of dynamite forward then to the left along the checkerboard tiles. When it reaches the end of the tiles, step away as the box explodes, destroying the stack of torpedoes and knocking over the metal tower to form a ramp you can use to reach the ledge above.
A brief cut scene shows Belloq escaping with the Ark. Before chasing after him, break the box on the far right to get artifact piece (9/10).
Push a second box of dynamite along the checkerboard tiles as far as it will go. Then step away to avoid the explosion. Again the dynamite sets off the torpedoes collapsing the nearby tower so you can climb it to the ledge on the left. In Story Mode, collect the studs here and then return to the exit.
FREE PLAY: After climbing the second fallen metal tower, use the scholar access panel to enter a side area. There are 3 blue bricks here. Build a bull's-eye target and shoot or throw bottles at it to get the first. Smash the control panel on the right to get the second. Dig up the sparkly patch on the left for the third.
Break the box in the left corner and use the rock to climb onto the ledge above, where the blue pad is located. When you drop all of the bricks on the pad, a box appears. Use it to reach artifact piece (10/10). Then return to the main area and exit to the next area.
Area 4: The Tabernacle
After the cut scene, the Boss: Belloq is shooting at you from the ledge ahead. Two enemy soldiers jump down to fight you as well. Deal with them then use the 2 piles of bits to build 2 electric generators. Use the red pad to change Marion into a monkey and have the creature climb onto the ledge on the left and step on the floor button to give Belloq a nasty shock.
Fight several more enemies, rebuild the generators and have the monkey climb up and press the button to electrocute Belloq again. A brief cut scene shows him running away and a rockslide opening the blocked passage on the right.
Use the red pad to change Marion back into herself. Then head to the right into an area with several tall stacks of green boxes and a stack of dynamite crates.
The goal is to push the dynamite toward Belloq, but since he keeps shooting at you, this can be difficult. If his gunshots hit the dynamite, it explodes before it's close enough to damage him and you have to start over. So timing is important. Push the dynamite forward. For now, the stone pillar shields it from Belloq's gunfire. Move around to the right side of the dynamite crates and wait for Belloq to stop shooting for a moment as he reloads. Then push the crates just a bit to the left so the next stone pillar protects them. Wait for the next pause and push the crates as far as they'll go to the left. Go around behind them again and push them forward as far as they'll go. Again, a stone pillar shields them from Belloq's bullets. Go around to the left side of the crates, wait for a break in the shooting and push the crates to the right as far as they'll go. Finally push them forward toward Belloq and step back. The next time he shoots, the dynamite explodes. He takes a bit more damage and then runs away.
FREE PLAY: Before going after Belloq, go back around the rocks and green crates to the far right corner of this room—on the lower level, not the ledge. Smash the small crate here to get a wooden torch. Carry it back to the left and light it on the burning barrel. Return to the spot where the dynamite blew up and climb onto the ledge. Go through the opening on the left to reach the ledge where you saw Belloq earlier. Use the torch to light the barrel there. Then throw a bottle at the barrel to destroy the nearby brick pile, revealing the red brick. Return to the ledge on the right.
Follow Belloq through the tunnel on the right. Attack him any way you like. You should only need to hit him once more to defeat him and end the level. . . and the story.
