UNLOCKING BONUS LEVELS: To unlock this level for play, you must collect all 6 artifacts in the Temple of Doom storyline and then unlock the level entrance in the Artifact Room at Barnett College. For details, see the Bonus Levels intro.

This bonus level is basically a big, LEGO playground, in which you must build and destroy objects to collect one million studs. The clock at the bottom of the screen keeps time, but there's no limit. You're only racing against yourself. So take as long as you need the first time through. Then try to do better next time.

Note that you can enable many but not all Extras here. Treasure multipliers, character treasure and the like do not work, but fast build, fast dig, fast fix, etc., will be very helpful.

This page isn't so much a walkthrough as a collection of tips. You'll probably find ways to complete the level more quickly than I have. There are also several good Ancient City video walkthroughs on YouTube. Good luck!

Almost everything here is breakable and releases studs when smashed. So toggle to a character with explosives and go wild! You'll need to do more than just break up the scenery to amass a million studs, though. Here are some of the other things you can do:

Use explosives to blow up the train station near the start. (This is a good place to try for the Xbox 360 achievement "Trouble with her is the noise". See the Achievements page for details.)

Destroy the small oasis with the crocodile. The leftover bits can be used to build a contraption that looks like it might fly but doesn't. It does, however, release a few studs.

If, like me, you're not too good at driving the LEGO vehicles, you may want to get the racetrack out of the way early on. You'll find motorcycles near the front right edge of the map. Hop on and follow the trail of studs to the racetrack at the far left. To win the race, you must follow the track as it curves around between the pairs of lights. These turn from red to green when you pass between each set. If you go too slow, or if you go off the track onto the studded part of the floor, the lights won't turn green and you'll have to start over at the beginning of the track.

NOTE: You can also complete the race riding the camel, but the motorcycle is faster and more maneuverable.

When you succeed in turning all five sets of lights, in order, from red to green, the trapdoor near the beginning of the track opens. Use the red LEGO bricks in the hole to build a letter L (the first letter in "LEGO").

Punch the back wall of this hole to reveal a crawlspace. Toggle to a small-sized character and crawl through the tunnel to get some studs in the pit below the grating. Then crawl back out.

Destroy the gray columns and build the red-and-yellow tile floor. Then use explosives to blow up the tan floor near the tiled areas. Keep destroying the floor until you find a pile of blue LEGO bricks. Use them to build a letter G. (Yes, I know, I ended up spelling "LEGO" out of order.)

Throw dynamite down the hole near the dinosaur skeleton to destroy the corner of the floor. Hop down into the pit and continue wrecking the ground to unearth 2 piles of dinosaur bones: one near the tail and one near the head. Build the dinosaur's tail, rib cage and skull. Then carry the skull up the dinosaur's back and place it where it belongs.

In the middle of the racetrack there's an oil drill. Smash the canisters around it. Then repair the drill to get it going. (You should have a character with a wrench, but you'll also find one on the ground after you break the canisters.) Repair the drill a second time and it will explode, leaving a hole in the ground. Use the green LEGO bricks inside to build a letter E.

Use a female character to jump into the little doorway on the back wall near the left edge. The small, dark room here contains lots of studs. Blow up the glass wall for yet more studs.

Use Indiana Jones to swing from the whip platform to the tiny ledge on the back wall. Toggle to a female character to reach the studs hovering above. Then swing back to the main area.

Near the beginning of the racetrack there's a big, tan mound with an opening in front. Smash the bricks in that opening to reveal a crawlspace. Send a small-sized character through to the ledge above. Pull the lever to open a hatch farther along the wall, dumping out a bunch of studs and LEGO bricks. Use the bricks to build a head for the sphinx statue. Then have both characters jump on the red levers next to the sphinx to send its head rolling along the ground. It smashes into the Easter Island head, giving you more studs.

Just to the right of the sphinx is a LEGO version of Stonehenge. Use explosives to destroy it, making a big hole in the ground and gaining lots of studs. There are also 2 piles of little, orange LEGO seeds here. Plant them to grow flowers and get more studs.

Destroy the building with the monkey and dig up the sparkling dirt where the building stood. Use the yellow LEGO bricks you unearth to build a letter O.

Grab the handles of the rickshaw and pull it along, following the trail of studs that appears. (I forgot to do this when I was close to it the first time, so my screenshot shows this at the end of the level.)

In the far, right corner, push the handle to turn the fan and blow the dust off the temple facade. While you're at it, continue pushing the handle until the fan points at the back wall to clear the dust from a huge mural. Use the loose LEGO tiles to finish the mural and watch the studs pour out.

Then use explosives to blow up the floor in front of the temple, enabling you to use the doorway. Go inside and gather more studs.

Cross the train tracks to the area with the spinner and small, blue crate. Smash the pile of tan bits sitting on top of the raised, tan rectangle, which is actually a trapdoor. Once you've loosened those bits, build them into two separate piles. Smash one to get studs. Smash the other to get several translucent crystals. Load the crystals into the blue box and carry it to the mine cart on the right.

Pick up the lit torch from the floor nearby and use it to light the burner on the back of the mine cart, which then rockets along the track, releasing a few studs in the process.

Now push the spinner to open the trapdoor. Down below is a small army of LEGO statues, reminiscent of ancient Chinese clay warriors. Smash them for studs.

In the near right corner, pluck 3 green cacti and place them in the hopper near the cactus sign. When you've inserted 3 plants, the lever is activated. Pull it to get a bottle of sarsaparilla from the little door in the wall. As far as I can tell, this has no practical purpose.

Use a character wearing an enemy uniform to knock on the guard's window on the right wall to trick the guard into opening the red gate so you can get the studs inside.

Just keep going until you have collected a million studs. By now you should be pretty close. Way to go!>
