LEGO Indiana Jones: Original Adventures - Xbox 360 Achievements

The first LEGO Indiana Jones game includes 50 achievements worth a total of 1,000 points. Note that the official Prima strategy guide lists several bogus achievements. It was probably based on an early build of the game, which may have included achievements that aren't in the final release. This game does not include PlayStation 3 trophies.

Printable
Checklist

This... this is history...

Collect all artifacts.

There are 10 artifact pieces in each level. Collect all 10 to complete the artifact for that level. Collect all the pieces in every level (180 pieces in all) to complete all 18 artifacts and unlock this achievement. You can examine the artifacts you've collected so far in the Artifact Room at Barnett College. (The Artifacts page and level walkthroughs give the location of each.)

40 G

Your mail is on your desk.

Post all parcels.

Locate the red parcel in each level (18 total) and mail it back to the college. The walkthrough gives the location of each parcel and mailbox.

Later, when you return to Barnett College, you can go to the Mail Room and pay the postage due to unlock each parcel's special bonus. You don't have to pay for the parcels to unlock this achievement. Simply finding and mailing them is enough. However, doing so unlocks the "You cheat very big!" achievement, below.

40 G

Fortune & glory kid.

Complete the game to 100%.

This is the big one. It involves unlocking several of the lesser achievements, plus a few extras:

  • Collect all artifacts (same as for the achievement "This... this is history...", above).
  • Find and mail all 18 parcels (same as "Your mail is on your desk", above).
  • Buy all 24 Extras (i.e., go to the Mail Room in Barnett College and purchase all parcels).
  • Achieve "True Adventurer" status in all 18 levels. (This involves collecting enough studs to fill the golden stud bar at the top center of the screen. The total varies for each level. For more info, see the Introduction and level walkthroughs.)
  • Unlock All Characters (same as "You chose... wisely", below).
  • Complete all levels, including all story missions, plus the three Bonus Levels.

(If you've done all this and the achievement won't unlock, see the note on glitches below.)

100 G

You chose... wisely.

Unlock all of the available characters.

There are 83 characters in all. Many are unlocked automatically as you complete each level in Story Mode. Some are made available after completing a level but must be purchased in the Library at Barnett College in order to unlock them. A few secret characters are unlocked in special ways. For more information, see Characters and Secret Characters.

30 G

You will become a true believer.

Use a Thuggee Statue 20 times.

Thuggees are the turban-wearing characters encountered in the Temple of Doom. Their special ability allows them to activate the Kali statues found in various levels in all three stories. Other characters can activate the statues if they are wearing a Thuggee turban, which can be obtained by defeating certain Thuggees. To activate the statues in levels where there are no Thuggee turbans to borrow, you'll need to unlock and then purchase a Thuggee character to use in Free Play mode.

20 G

Bad dates!

Give 20 bananas to monkeys.

In various levels you'll encounter monkeys holding objects you need. Take a banana from a nearby crate or bunch and toss it to the monkey (by aiming and pressing B). The monkey will catch the banana and throw the tool, key, etc., to your character. Note that it's possible to give bananas to monkeys without getting something in return, but these interactions won't count toward the achievement.

To unlock this achievement fairly quickly, load the City of Danger level in Free Play. In the first area, there's a monkey with a wrench. Toss a banana to it and then move out of the way. It will throw down the wrench, but if you don't pick it up, it will disappear. Then you can repeat the process until the achievement unlocks.

20 G

What a cautious fellow I am.

Destroy 50 objects with a bazooka or other explosive device.

During the course of normal Story Mode gameplay, you'll blow up a number of objects using weapons or dynamite. If you don't unlock the achievement this way, purchase a Character with the explosive ability (see the Characters list) and use it in Free Play. It won't take too long to obtain the achievement.

20 G

You call this archaeology?

Use a scholar character's academic ability 50 times.

Certain characters possess the academic special ability. Other characters can gain this ability temporarily by finding and picking up a blue book. This ability allows characters to activate hieroglyph puzzles in various levels. (For more info, see Characters and Abilities.)

20 G

The best digger in Cairo.

Uncover 50 pieces of buried treasures using the excavation ability.

Some characters possess the excavation special ability, which allows them to dig certain objects out of the ground. Other characters can gain this ability temporarily by finding and picking up a shovel. (For more info, see Characters and Abilities.)

20 G

Trouble with her is the noise.

Destroy 50 objects or characters using the scream and super scream ability.

After completing the first Temple of Doom level, you'll unlock Willie, whose scream special ability can be used like a weapon to shatter glass objects. After you find the parcel in the Temple of Kali level, you'll be able to purchase the Super Scream ability, which makes Willie's shriek powerful enough to injure nearby enemies. (For more info, see Characters, Abilities and Parcels & Extras.)

Several players have reported that this achievement can only be unlocked by destroying objects and not characters. The Ancient City bonus level is a good place to work on this. Use Willie to break the three panes of glass near the train platform. Save and quit, then repeat.

20 G

Start the engines, Jock!

Use a mechanic character's repair ability 50 times.

Certain characters possess the repair special ability. Other characters can gain this ability temporarily by finding and picking up a wrench. This ability allows characters to fix broken machinery in various levels. (For more info, see Characters and Abilities.)

To unlock this achievement fairly quickly, go to the Pursuing the Ark level in Free Play mode. On the right side of the first area is a scissor lift with a broken motor. When you repair it, the lift goes up and down, enabling you to reach some high-up studs, and then quickly breaks again. This enables you to repair it over and over again. If you first unlock the "Fast Fix" Extra, this achievement is a snap.

20 G

How we say goodbye in Germany.

Access restricted enemy locations 50 times.

Certain areas can only be entered using a character in enemy uniform—or by defeating an enemy soldier and taking his hat as a disguise. Using a soldier or disguised character, approach a panel with a soldier icon on it and press B to knock. A guard will peek out, look your character over and then, if you pass muster, let you in. (For more info, see Characters and Abilities.)

As far as I know, you don't actually have to enter the restricted area in order for the action to count toward the achievement, only knock and have the guard give the OK. Also, guarded gates—like the ones in the Motorcycle Escape level—don't seem to count, only actual buildings or rooms. Opening the Ark has a restricted room in the first area. So you can knock, let the guard nod at you, then quit and reload. This gets a bit tedious, though. It's probably easier to focus on unlocking other achievements. You may unlock this one in the process.

20 G

I hate these guys.

Destroy 200 bad guys.

You should unlock this achievement while completing the game in Story Mode. If not, then you definitely will when replaying various levels for other achievements.

20 G

It's not the years honey...

Complete any level with out dying, without invincibility.

This can be done in Story or Free Play mode. Just make sure the "Invincibility" Extra is turned OFF and, if you like, "Regenerate Hearts" ON. The easiest level to beat this way is probably Escape the Mines, since there aren't many enemies and it's almost impossible to die while riding the mine carts.

If a character is about to die—either in combat or by falling—quickly press Y to switch to the other character. You may be able to cheat death this way. (Thanks to Maj0r_Black0ut for this tip.)

40 G

How dare you kiss me!

Use your whip to kiss Marion, Willie and Elsa.

The three main female characters, Marion, Willie and Elsa, are playable characters in both Story and Free Play modes. While playing as Indiana Jones, stand a few steps away from any of the ladies facing her and press B to use the whip. Indy should then pull the lady toward him and plant a kiss on her. Any version of Indiana and any version of the three female characters should work. (I found I had to kiss Elsa a few times before the achievement would register, though. So if it doesn't happen immediately just try again.)

15 G

Oh it breaks the heart.

Smash 20 LEGO objects on enemy heads.

During combat, you can pick up certain objects (e.g., chairs, bottles, etc.) by standing near them and pressing B. Then approach an enemy character and press B again to smash the object over his head. As long as you employ this strategy during several fights, you should manage to unlock the achievement in the first play through. If not, load one of the levels with respawning enemies and glass bottles (e.g., Into the Mountains in Raiders or Trouble in the Sky in The Last Crusade) and use the bottles to fight the enemies. As long as you don't defeat the boss, both the bottles and enemies will continue to respawn.

15 G

Secret Achievements

That belongs in a museum!

Complete the "Young Indy" level in Story Mode.

This secret level is unlocked by obtaining all artifacts in the Raiders of the Lost Ark levels. The entrance is in the Artifact Room at Barnett College. For more info, see the Bonus Levels page and the Young Indy walkthrough.

10 G

Nice try, Lao Che!

Destroy Lao Che with Indy.

After completing the Shanghai Showdown level in Story Mode, Lao Che will be available to purchase in the Library at Barnett College. (He costs 19,000 studs to unlock.) Do this. Then load any level in Free Play mode, selecting Lao Che as your main character. You'll get some version of Indy as one of the alternates. When the level loads, press Y to switch to the secondary character. Then press either bumper button to cycle through the available characters until Indy is selected. Switch back to Indy and attack Lao Che. When he crumbles, the achievement will unlock.

20 G

Goodbye Dr. Jones.

Destroy Indy with Lao Che.

After unlocking the "Nice try, Lao Che!" achievement (above), switch characters again. Then attack Indiana Jones with Lao Che to unlock this achievement. Easy peasy.

20 G

I step on fortune cookie!

Destroy 50 creepy-crawlies.

When you smash small plants and shrubs—either by punching them or smacking them with Indiana's whip—sometimes small, red spiders will swarm out of the rubble. Smash 50 of them to unlock this achievement. If you're trying for True Adventurer status in all levels, you shouldn't have any trouble getting this one as well.

20 G

He no nuts. He's crazy!!

Smash 250 LEGO objects.

Fairly straightforward. It may take a while but, again, if you're collecting studs to spend on unlockable goodies or trying for True Adventurer status, you won't have any trouble destroying 250 objects in the course of the game.

20 G

Hey! You call him Dr. Jones!

Create and name a custom-build character.

In Barnett College, go through the Courtyard (first doorway on the right side of the Main Hall) to reach the Art Room. There you'll find two LEGO minifigs you can customize for use in Free Play mode. All you need to do to unlock this achievement is to change at least one of the figure's attributes and its name (using the chalkboard icon) and save it. But if you want to create a useful custom character, see the Characters page for more info.

20 G

That's for blasphemy!

Destroy Indy with Jones, Sr.

This achievement can be unlocked in Story Mode during the Castle Rescue level. Take control of the Henry Jones Sr. character and smash Indy. That's all. If you miss getting the achievement the first time, load any level in Free Play mode, selecting Henry Jones as your main character. You'll get some version of Indy as one of the alternates. Use Henry to smash Indy and you're done.

20 G

Show a little backbone will ya?

Destroy 100 snakes.

There are various levels in which you encounter little red snakes, but unless you make a special effort, you probably won't smash enough of them in Story Mode to unlock this achievement. There's an area near the end of the Well of Souls level with three chutes that dispense snakes until you shut the doors in front of them. Just stand on the ledge below one of these chutes, wait for a snake to fall out and then hit it. Repeat until the achievement unlocks.

Note that you can use any character to do this except Indiana Jones, who is afraid of snakes. (See Character Phobias.) It's especially easy if you use a Free Play character with a gun or sword, since punching snakes can result in injury.

20 G

Blow it up!

Blow up 5 enemies with 1 explosion.

You'll need a character with explosives and an area with multiple enemies. (You can also use the stolen weapons or dynamite which are available in certain levels.) A few possibilities: After crossing the bridge at the start of the Pankot Secrets level, a swarm of spiders appears. Shoot them with the bazooka and the achievement should unlock. Or, try the Escape the Mines level, where there are 8 enemies right at the beginning. Sometimes they won't attack you right away and you can herd five or more of them together and then use a bazooka/grenade/dynamite to blow up the crowd. The end of The Lost Temple is another good area for this. The Hovitos tribesmen continually respawn, so you should be able to gather a large enough group.

40 G

I can't believe what you did!

Disarm 100 enemies with the whip.

When playing as Indy, stand a few steps away from an enemy holding a gun, sword or other weapon, and press B to use the whip. Sometimes Indy will pull the enemy toward him, sometimes he'll knock the enemy off his feet, and occasionally he'll use his whip to grab the enemy's weapon. Do the latter 100 times to unlock this achievement.

Note that finding and purchasing the Parcel in the Castle Rescue level unlocks the "Disarm Enemies" Extra. This does not affect Indy's ability to steal weapons with this whip, but it will enable him to stand close to armed enemies without being shot. That can make getting this achievement easier.

20 G

Throw me the idol.

Perform 150 whip grabs in the game.

When playing as Indy, any time you see an object that can be picked up (i.e., blue triangle icon above it), stand a few steps away from it and press B to grab it with the whip.

If you haven't unlocked this achievement after playing through the game in Story Mode, try replaying Into the Mountains. The first area is Marion's tavern, where you'll find lots of respawning glass bottles. Just have Indy keep whip-grabbing bottles and smashing them until the achievement unlocks.

20 G

We go for a ride.

Perform 250 whip swings in the game.

Indiana Jones does lots of his trademark whip swinging during the course of the game; however, he probably won't do it 250 times during one play-through. If you've unlocked everything else and still don't have this achievement, just find a gap with whip swinging platforms on either side and keep swinging back and forth until the achievement unlocks. It's boring, but if you've completed the game beforehand it shouldn't take too long.

20 G

Got lost in his own museum.

Unlock secret area in the museum.

Go to the Artifact Room at Barnett College and approach the pedestal in the center. On the floor nearby is a blue diamond. Pick it up and place it on the pedestal to unlock the achievement. (The three round holes in the floor are the entrances to the Bonus Levels which are unlocked as you progress.)

30 G

Where Forrestal cashed in.

Collect 1,000,000 studs in the Ancient City Level.

For info on unlocking this bonus area, see the Bonus Levels page. Once you've gained access, build and destroy until you've collected a million studs. The Ancient City walkthrough includes tips.

30 G

A source of unspeakable power!

Build 250 LEGO objects.

In the course of the game you'll come across various jiggling piles of LEGO bricks. Position a character near one of these piles and hold B to build. You should have no problem building 250 objects if you play through each level in both Story Mode and Free Play. (If you unlock the "Fast Build" Extra, this will go much more quickly.)

20 G

You cheat very big!

Unlock all extras.

Extras are the special features that can be unlocked by finding and posting the Parcels in each level (as in the "Your mail is on your desk" achievement, above). In order to unlock this achievement you must go to the Mail Room at Barnett College and buy each parcel with the studs you've collected. (For more info, see the Extras page.)

Alternately, you can get this achievement quickly by going to the Classroom in Barnett College and entering the appropriate Cheat Codes on the chalk board to unlock all of the Extras. But that would be. . . well. . . cheating. ;)

30 G

Potential Achievement Glitches

If you've completed the game to 100% but the "Fortune & glory kid" achievement won't unlock, try quitting the game completely (all the way out to the Xbox Dashboard). Then restart the game, go into any level, save and quit. That should cause the achievement to unlock.

Similarly, if the "You chose...wisely" achievement won't unlock, even though you've unlocked and purchased all available characters, try replaying the "Young Indy" bonus level. When you finish, the achievement should unlock.

Thanks to Khaos and Method at xboxachievements.org for the bug-fix info.
