Area 1: Venetian Canal
Head to the right to the corner of the building near the potted plant. Pull the lever to extend the green-and-white awning above. Have Elsa jump and grab the dangling rope on the left and jump from there to the nearby ledge.
FREE PLAY: As in Story Mode, use a female character to climb the rope near the start. Jump from the rope to the ledge. Then switch to a character with glass-breaking or explosive ability to shatter the windows and get artifact piece #1.
Jump onto the awning you just extended. Bounce up and down a bit to gain some height and then jump the balcony on the right and from there to the next balcony with the white lounge chairs.
Smash up the furniture and plant the seeds in the flower boxes to get a few extra studs. Then move to the right side of the balcony. Switch to one of the characters down below and have him pull the lever beneath the balcony to extend the green-and-yellow awnings. Switch back to Elsa and hop across these awnings to reach the high balcony with the golden key. Grab it and jump down to the ground.
Use the key in the mechanism near the edge of the canal to raise a whip platform.
Switch to Indy and whip swing across to the other side of the canal. There's a mechanism on this side too, but it's also missing a key. Run to the back wall and punch the gray bars to get the second golden key. Return to the mechanism and use the key to raise the footbridge so Elsa and Brody can cross.
When you cross the piazza with the café tables, several bad guys wearing fezzes attack. After you deal with them, there's a lot of outdoor furniture you can break up for studs if you like, as well as a fountain you can rebuild. Elsa can then jump to reach the studs hovering above the fountain.
FREE PLAY: Go to the back right corner of the open area with the café tables. Smash the gelato stand in the alcove and use the pieces to build a crawlspace. Switch to a small-sized character and go through to emerge on the balcony above. Enter the enclosed walkway on the left to find artifact piece #2.
PARCEL: In Free Play mode, after building the crawlspace and obtaining the second artifact piece, as described above, pull the lever on the left side of the balcony to raise the gate in the canal below. Swim through into a separate side area.
Climb out of the water and toggle one character to Indiana Jones. Stand on the whip platform and use the whip to pull down the parcel. Move to the left side of the ledge and smash the boards across the alcove. Pull the lever inside to start the elevator moving.
Pick up the parcel and carry it onto the elevator. Ride it upward and jump through the archway into the little room beyond. Break open the cabinet on the left to get a golden key. Smash the boards in the doorways to the right so you can get into the room with the mechanism where the key fits. Use it to raise a wooden ledge on the outer wall of the building.
Grab the parcel once more and jump out the window onto the ledge you just raised. Jump with the parcel onto the solid ledge below on the right. Then drop the parcel there. Jump across the next gap, which is too wide to cross carrying the parcel. Then use the whip to snatch the parcel across the gap. Carry the parcel down the ladder and pop it in the mailbox.
Swim back to the main area and climb out of the canal on the stairs to the right, just below the mechanism you used to raise the first whip platform.
Later, when you've finished the level and returned to Barnett College, go to the Mail Room and pay the postage due to claim your parcel. In this case, 125,000 studs unlocks the "Parcel Detector" Extra. (See Parcels & Extras for more info.)
FREE PLAY: Use a character with the explosives or glass-breaking ability to shatter the window on the far right side of the piazza. Get on the motor scooter and ride to the left. You'll notice that a series of orange traffic cones have appeared. Run over all of the cones—including the ones on the other side of the pedestrian bridge—to make artifact piece #3 appear in the alcove near the first lever.
There are also a number of silver manhole covers you can destroy with explosive weapons to get extra studs. Don't forget to drop into the open holes to get the blue studs inside.
Use Elsa or Brody to activate the hieroglyph puzzle above the library door. To solve it, watch the sequence of lighted glyphs then activate the glyphs in the same sequence. When you do this, the door swings open so you can enter.
Area 2: Library
Notice the large, gray LEGO plate and 4 smaller green plates on the floor in the middle of the room. As you'd guess, you need to find 4 sets of LEGO bits to build here.
Start by going to the bookshelves on the right. Use the pile of LEGO bits to build a handle for the nearby ladder. Push the green side of the handle to the right and then climb the ladder to the ledge above. Grab the first box of LEGO bits and carry it to one of the green plates. Use the parts to fill in one section of the large tiled panel in the middle of the floor.
FREE PLAY: After moving the ladder and climbing onto the ledge with the bits box, use a character with explosives to destroy the silver grate and open a secret compartment. Step in to get some studs and emerge through a rotating panel in the bookcase below.
Grab the second box of LEGO bits, which is sitting on the floor at the back of the room, beneath the stained glass window. Drop it on one of the other green plates and use the parts to add more tiles to the image on the floor.
Now go to the shelves in the front left corner of the room. Smash the brightly colored books to expose a lever. Pull it to spin one bookcase around, revealing the third box of LEGO bits. Add these tiles to the floor as well.
In the far right corner of the room is a wide alcove with a suit of armor and several planters. Smash the planters and use the tiles left behind to build a checkerboard floor. Push the suit of armor onto the orange button to open two panels on the upper level, revealing a pair of scimitars.
As Indy, step into the small alcove with the whip platform just to the left of the stained glass window. Use the whip to pull the ring on the ceiling, causing a spinner to rise out of the floor. Push the green handle around and around to extend a spiral staircase enabling you to reach the upper level.
Have two characters each grab one of the swords you revealed by moving the armor down below. Jump over to the ledge on the left (or use the handrail to climb over). Then have each character use his or her sword to cut one of the angled cables securing the bars over artifact piece #4.
Climb back to the right. Have one of the academic characters solve the glyph puzzle to open the safe. Out pops the fourth box of LEGO bits. Carry it down to the lower level and use it to complete the tiled image on the floor: "X" marks the spot!
When the tiles have all been laid down, a handrail extends from the wall above the stained glass window and a whip platform extends from the upper floor on the right.
Go back up the spiral staircase and jump to grab the dangling rope on the right. Then make your way across the ledges and railing to the other side of the room.
Stand on the whip platform and use the whip to pull down the chandelier, which crashes through the "X" on the floor, opening the way to the next area.
FREE PLAY: On the right side of the library's upper level, either before or after pulling down the chandelier, assemble the jiggling red and green bits to form a handle for the nearby ladder. Push the ladder to the right and climb up. Switch to a character with the enemy access ability. Stand in front of the panel with the soldier's picture and press Use to knock. The guard will peek out, look your character over, and if he is dressed correctly, open the door on the right.
Before entering that room, use a character with explosives to blow up the 3 silver panels on the wall to the left, exposing 3 Roman numerals.
Go inside, fight a group of enemy communication officers and smash their equipment. Use the leftover bits to build 3 springboards attached to some odd machinery. Jump on each of the springboards until the machines display the same numerals shown on the panels outside. When you've done this, artifact piece #5 appears.
Area 3: Catacombs
There's a small pile of jiggling bits just to the right that can be used to repair the ladder, in case you want to return to the library.
A short distance to the left is a barred alcove containing a artifact piece #6. In order to open the bars, you must find 5 skeletons, one of which can only be accessed in Free Play mode. For details, see the Free Play section below.
Smash the tan coffins to reveal various combinations of studs, hearts and spikes. Just be sure to stand back after you hit each one to avoid the spikes that pop out.
Whether or not you're going after the artifact, smack the first coffin on the right. Spikes pop out, along with a shovel, which is handy for hitting the other coffins. Follow the oily stream to the right. Just before the Kali statue, there's a sparkly patch of ground in the middle of the tunnel. Use the shovel here to dig up a box of LEGO bits.
Carry the box around the corner to the right and drop it on the green plate. Use the bits to build a fan. Then move to the left side of the tunnel and use the orange handle to pull a crypt out from the wall. Climb on top and stand on the button to activate the fan, blowing the dust off the wall to reveal another hieroglyph puzzle. Use Elsa to solve the puzzle, opening the way to the next room.
Elsa fears rodents about as much as Indy does snakes. So she will not cross the shallow pit filled with rats. Switch to Indy and take a running jump across the pit. Grab one of the burning torches and use it to light the lanterns on each side of the pit by jumping up next to them. This makes the rats scurry out of the way so Elsa can cross safely.
Have her grab the dangling rope on the left to retract the spikes around the lever in the middle of the wall. With Elsa still hanging, switch to Indy and use the lever to open the door.
The next room has ledges along the back wall and a large pool in the middle. If you want to, you can swim down and press the 3 valves on the bottom of the pool to open the barred alcove below the whip platforms. This is part of the Free Play sequence for getting the 6th artifact piece (below) but it will also enable you to snag some studs in Story Mode. Climb out of the pool using the railing on the left.
Have Indy step onto the whip platform and swing across to the other side. Then climb the ladder to the ledge above. Elsa should follow using the railings and the alcove on the left.
You can't get the treasure chest behind the bars in Story Mode, since you'll need characters with various special abilities. (Again, see the Free Play note below for details.)
To reach the exit, begin by having Elsa grab the dangling rope. This raises a pair of wooden platforms on the right. Switch to Indy and hop onto the higher platform. Use the whip to smash the spider web to the right and again to pull the red ring, raising a wooden platform near the exit.
FREE PLAY: Throughout this area there are various alcoves with silver bars. If you have a character with explosives you can destroy these to get extra studs. A couple of these alcoves also require a female character's jumping ability to reach.
To obtain artifact piece #6, located behind the bars just to the left of the starting point, explosives won't do. Instead you must find 5 LEGO skeletons hidden throughout this area. Each time you find one, one of the 5 small skulls decorating the barred alcove turns around to show its face. When you find all five, the bars open.
The first skeleton (1/5) is in one of the tan coffins near the start. It's the one just below and to the left of the ledge where you enter. The other coffins contain studs, hearts and dangerous spikes.
The next skeleton (2/5) is on the right just before the sparkly patch where you dig up the bits box. Grab the orange handle and pull the crypt out of the wall. The skeleton then pops out.
To reveal the next skeleton (3/5), switch to a Thuggee character to activate the Kali statue at the next turn in the tunnel. When you do, the skeleton drops down from the ceiling.
After crossing the rat pit, smash the boards on the right to find another skeleton (4/5).
The final skeleton (5/5) is in the barred alcove at the bottom of the wide pool. Swim down and push each of the 3 valves. They reset after a few moments so you'll need to move quickly. When you've pushed all three, the bars open and the skeleton floats to the surface.
At this point, if you've found all of the others, a cut scene shows the bars opening back at the alcove with the treasure chest. Climb out of the pool on the left and run back along the tunnel to the left end to get the reward.
Artifact piece #7 is in one of the barred alcoves in the room with the large pool. To get it, start with one female character and one small-sized character. Have the lady grab the dangling rope. This reveals a crawlspace just to the left. Switch to the small character and crawl through quickly before the timer runs out and the opening disappears. If this happens, just pull the rope and try again.
On the upper ledge, go to the right and toggle the small guy to a character with the excavation ability (or bring a shovel through from the previous room). Dig a hole in the floor and fall through onto the button in the alcove below. Stepping on the button raises the bars over this alcove and the one with the treasure chest. Once you have the treasure chest, continue to the next area the way you did in Story Mode.
The next room is flooded about waist deep. There are several sections of slippery checkerboard tile and a few high ledges. Begin by pushing the coffin beneath the ledge on the right. Use Elsa to jump up to the ledge and push the box to the left, then forward just to the edge. Don't push the box all the way off the ledge yet. First, climb onto the box and use it to reach the ledge above on the left, where you'll find artifact piece #8.
Jump back down to the box, push it off the ledge and position it on one of the sunken squares in the floor.
Switch to Indy, step onto the whip platform on the left and use the whip to pull down the second box. Slide it onto the other depression in the floor.
When the boxes are positioned this way, they function as buttons. Have one character stand on each box to lower the bars blocking the exit and release another coffin from a compartment in the floor. Push the coffin toward the ledge at the end of the room and use it for a boost to get up there.
Area 4: Shipyard on the Lagoon
After escaping from the catacombs, head to the right to engage several members of the Brotherhood and their Boss: Kazim. He's the one wearing the light gray suit and purple fez. You'll notice his picture appears in the middle of the screen, with a line of hearts below showing his health. When you punch him a couple of times, he runs away and hops into a speedboat. Deal with his buddies. Then get into one of the other speedboats and go after him.
At this point, notice that the portrait of Kazim changes to a picture of the speedboat, which only has four hearts below it. You'll need to ram Kazim's boat with your own to damage it and force him onto dry land.
As you chase Kazim around the lagoon, smash into the 10 red buoys to make artifact piece #9 appear on the small island in the middle.
Then go after Kazim. When you've crashed into him 3 times, his boat's engine begins to smoke and he flees to the little island where the treasure chest is. Follow him there and continue the fight with fists and whip. After Kazim takes a few hits, he'll call one of his helpers over to take his place and then motor away in the other man's boat. Take care of the other enemy and then continue pursuing Kazim in your own boat.
IMPORTANT: If you're redoing this area in Free Play, be sure you've obtained the last artifact piece, as described below, before beating Kazim.
When you've reduced his boat to one heart, he'll drive off to the right side of the map. Follow him and jump onto his boat to finish the fight and the level.
FREE PLAY: Before finishing the fight with Kazim, head for the right side of the lagoon and climb out on the dock with the crane and chain-link fences. If you come to this area after fighting Kazim on the island, there will be several Brotherhood members here.
Climb up next to the crane and use a character with the repair ability to fix it. Jump behind the controls and press Attack or Use to pick up the other character with the hook. (The crane arm should be in the correct position to grab the other character when you start, but if you've moved the arm, use the round shadow on the ground to help determine when the hook is directly above the character.) Swing the crane arm toward the rear ledge and press Attack/Use again to drop the other character there.
Switch to that character (here it helps to use a female) and jump to grab the dangling crate on the left. Climb to the right side of the bar on this crate and jump to grab the other crate to the right. As you hang there, it begins to descend, raising the other crate. Climb to the left and when the bottom of the left crate is level with the top of the right crate, jump to grab onto the left crate. Immediately jump on top of it. Then quickly jump to grab the railing on the tower before the crate sinks again.
Climb on top of the tower and switch to a character with explosives. Blow up the silver hatch on top of the tower and drop in to get artifact piece #10. Destroy the second hatch on the lower level and fall through to emerge from the huge pipe to the right of the pier. Swim around to the left, get back in your boat and finish the fight with Kazim.
